Boston Consulting Group, an international consultant company which acquire more than 90 towns in 50 different countries held the Campus Roadshow in Universitas Prasetiya Mulya at Friday, 9th March 2018. This event is divided into 3 part, mini seminar : “How to Create a KIller CV” , Alumni Sharing : “ Life as Business Consultant”,and short explanation about “Case Competition: BCG Career Accelerator Program”. The seminar is brought up by Alumnus of Undergraduate Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, batch 2013, Sacarisa Salim.
“We always search for good people, but people is being hard enough to find” Sacarissa said. To be hire in one company is not an easy thing. The first step needed by any applicant is sending a CV. The facts, employer just laid eyes on CV not more than 5 seconds each. So, it need right way to become stand out and picture the best competencies by one or two those pages. Some of it by writing the key differentiate, create a focus CV adjusted with the company applied, and using common language.
Next, Sacarissa who experience working as business consultant share her stories. This part conducted as question and answer forum. Many think that being a consultant mean to be smart, hard working, and sleepless night. However, it then corrected by her sharing. She explained that the working environment built in BCD is not stiff and family focus. So, have a balanced life is actually can be achieved even working as business consultant.
“Sometimes people see consultant is intimidating. But actually we are working toward the same goal, eather for us or the client.” Sacarissa said. Working as a business consultant mean to have the first focus to impress the client. Sacarissa also explaining the culture tradition in BCG. Every beginning of the month, they wil have case team meeting. Every member in the team will have time to presentate their work plan that then will be criticized by other team member. By this way, they can make sure the personal development for every consultant and every person will get as their compatibility.
As the closing, Sacarissa then explained the case which will be the competition materials in BCG competition “Career Accelerator Program” that can be joined for students in 3rd or 4th year. This competition will be held among three university in Indonesia, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, and for the first time, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya. By her explanation, this close competition can be a milestone to get job interview session by Boston Consultant Group. Even though this event is conducted in full english, all of the participants were in spirit and more, Sacarissa closed the seminar by bucking up the students, to give their best and soon catch her up.
